DJ Jun – Tough Love 2

DJ Jun – Tough Love 2

One of the things that I really enjoy about creating mixes and podcasts is that I get to go through the crates and pick out tunes I don’t usually get to play out much.  Some of my most favorite tracks are those slower soul love jams that just melt you away with every listen, but end up taking a back seat to something more uptempo for the party.  The next mix is a compilation of just that…15 bangin’ soul love songs from the vinyl vault, which make up the second installment in the ‘Tough Love‘ series.

A big Shout to Boule at Consortium Distributions and Brian C for being dude.  If you’re in the Montreal area, CD quality versions of ‘Tough Love 2′ are being given away with purchases at the Consortium Pop-Up Shop on St. Laurent until the month’s end.  Grab’em before they’re gone.

Enjoy the mix!

Tracklist:

Hodges, James, Smith & Crawford – Nobody (Mpingo)
Ruby Andrews – You Made a Believer (Out of Me) (Zodiac)
Alice Clark – You Don’t Care (Mainstream)
Smith – Baby It’s You (Dunhill / ABC)
The Lovelites – This Love Is Real (UNI)
The Olympians – How Can I Love (Now That You’re Gone) (Truth & Soul)
Kings Go Forth – High On Your Love (Mr. C’s)
Eddie Kendricks – Intimate Friends (Tamla)
The Voices of East Harlem – Giving Love (Just Sunshine Records)
The Persuaders – Thin Line Between Love and Hate (ATCO)
Kool Blues – Can We Try Love Again (Capsoul)
Marie “Queenie” Lyons – I Don’t Want Nobody To Have It But You (DeLuxe)
Halleluiah Chorus – I’ve Got to Find a Way (Nickel)
Wendy Rene – After Laughter (Stax)

This was an awesome experience and a lot was learned while producing the painting mainly, how to layer colours effectively. This stands as my fines canned mural to date.

Greetings good people,

Jun and I are thrilled to bring you the invisible friends’ website and are thankful that you have taken the time to visit us.  As usual you will find lots of great mixes on the apes site, my site, as well as interesting art courtesy of Behind the Front.

After a long wait, I’ve finally emerged with some new tunes for you to vibe to.  This mix was highly influenced by the Dubstep movement and are very Dilla inspired.  Filled with new age funk and outer worldly sounds and effect, this mix is sure to take you places.  So for those susceptible to head nodder twitch, you might wanna invest in a helmet.

Enjoy,
Sawtay
